Palma Ceia hosts math festival
Posted 2/28/18

Five Hayward Unified School District (HUSD) elementary schools are holding math festivals thanks to a grant the district received in partnership with Cal State East Bay. The grant, which began in August 2016 and ended in December 2017, allowed these schools to receive training from Cal State East Bay math professors with the goal of providing solid math fundamentals to students at a young age.

As part of the grant, teachers attended a summer institute and a series of training sessions throughout the year. The grant also provided participating schools with training materials. Palma Ceia hosted their math festival—consisting of student events during the day and culminating in family evening activities—on Tuesday, February 27.

The California Math Council helped organize the Palma Ceia event as well as events at the other participating schools: Harder, Tyrrell, Schafer Park, and Eden Gardens elementary schools.
