On January 19th, Tennyson student Alex Vargas was recognized as the Region 1 Migrant Education Student of the Year at a migrant education conference in Santa Clara. Alex was selected from among 129 students in the HUSD program and among students in 33 other schools districts in Northern California! The selection committee recognized good academic standing, school attendance, and an essay submitted by each student in making the selection. His application and essay have been forwarded to the committee that will recognize the Migrant Education Student of the Year at the statewide level. Congratulations to Alex, his family, and the dedicated educators that provide support to students from all walks of life.
