Media Advisory: Hayward Unified School District invites community to celebrate the groundbreaking of future state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center.

HAYWARD, Calif., March 23, 2022Media partners and community members are invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the future Performing Arts Center, the first of its kind in the Hayward Unified School District (HUSD), on March 24 at 4 p.m. at 2300 Panama Street in Hayward.

The $47.2 million-project is funded by Measure H, a $381.7 million bond measure that was approved by 72% of votes in 2018. The Performing Arts Center will be located at Mt. Eden High School and will be open to all of HUSD’s students for use. The facility supports both HUSD’s commitment to being a Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) district and the Board of Education’s recent adoption of a resolution to name March as “Art is Education Month.” The project team for the Performing Arts Center consists of general contractor Blach Construction, designer HY Architects and construction manager TRiGroup.

HUSD Superintendent Dr. Matt Wayne thanked the community for its support of the new facility.

“This Performing Arts Center will allow our students to receive a top-tier arts education during their time at Hayward Unified schools,” he said. “We are incredibly grateful to this community for its support of our students and your willingness to ensure students of the future will have a well-rounded academic experience too. We hope you join us in this celebration on March 24th.”
