2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR

February 1 – February 28

To obtain the Open Enrollment form, please click here: English or Spanish

“Open Enrollment” is the primary transfer option available for families in the Hayward Unified School District (H.U.S.D.) who wish their children to attend a different HUSD school.  Open Enrollment allows parental choice for another school within the H.U.S.D. that has space to accept students from outside that attendance boundary.  Some schools and grade levels will not have space available for transfer. A random unbiased lottery will be used when there are more requests for a school than there are spaces available.

Open Enrollment Schools

Elementary Schools:

Bowman, East Avenue, Eldridge, Fairview, Faith Ringgold (K-6), Glassbrook, Harder, Longwood, Lorin Eden, Palma Ceia, Park, Ruus, Strobridge, and Treeview

Middle Schools:

Anthony W. Ochoa, Bret Harte, Cesar Chavez, Faith Ringgold, Martin Luther King Jr., and Winton

High Schools:

Hayward High, Mt. Eden High, and Tennyson High

Once enrolled through Open Enrollment, students become residents of that school and will remain at that school through the final grade.

When a student promotes to middle or high school, families will need to request a transfer through the Open Enrollment process for their student to attend a school outside their boundary.

Open Enrollment Transfer Request forms must be turned in to the H.U.S.D. school where the student attends, or the Child Welfare & Attendance (CWA) Office no later than Thursday, February 28, 2019.  Applications are available at any Hayward school, at the Hayward Unified School District’s Child Welfare and Attendance Office, 24823 Soto Rd. Rm 31, Hayward, CA 94544, or at the link below.

Please remember the time frame for Open Enrollment: February 1 through February 28.

Late applications will not be considered
